Here are two-a mine from school.

What led to the eventual downfall of the Athenians?

Athens tried to gain too much power over surrounding lands. If the Athenians had not proposed war against Sparta and tried to become the undisputed leaders of the Mediterranean, then they may still have remained the dominant power in the region.

In 431 BC a war broke out between Athens and Sparta. It is generally agreed that the reason as to why this happened is that Athens was in dispute with other colonies over control of Potidaea. Before long, the Athenians attacked, resulting in the rival Peloponnesian states accusing Athens of violating the 30 years peace.

Alcibiades, the statesman, orator and general, talked the Athenians into launching an assault against Syracuse in 415 BC. The undertaking was a complete and utter failure.

But it wasn’t just control of their neighbours that Athens craved. They also wanted to be the greatest trading state. Unfortunately, increased trading led to increased contact with disease and eventually Athens was overwhelmed by plague. Many people were killed including Pericles, the leader of the Athenians.

The Athenians, a wonderful civilization that made one fatal mistake: They became so obsessed with power that they lost grip on what really made them great.

WHY IS ALEXANDER KNOWN AS ALEXANDER THE GREAT?

Alexander rightfully deserves the name “Alexander The Great”. He conquered a vast amount of land and although someone else would be happy with what they had achieved, Alexander still wanted more.

Believing that he was the son of a god, Alexander strived for greatness and greatness to the Greeks meant bravery in battle and power over civilisations.

Becoming king at the young age of 19, Alexander could finally pursue control over Persia. Soon, he had not only reached his goal but had also taken over a large amount of surrounding territory. Alexander’s empire began to grow larger and larger until he had conquered the known world! He had built his empire starting at Egypt and stretching all the way to India, taking over an area of land about the size of Australia.

Alexander died at 33, having achieved so much in so little time.

Alexander had always thought of himself a hero and for the time he ruled, he was invincible.

Shytza. I'd post mah term paper on "A Midsummer Night's Dream" from like 100 years ago but I don't feel like typing it and it's really long and boring. And I BS'd the whole thing, which teachers seem to love.
Hey. It pulled my grade out of the gutter. XD
